AAS is pleased to announce that the Board of Directors unanimously approved the creation of a new division to represent people with lived experience and suicide attempt survivors and the people who love and care about them. This is a pivotal time in our association as we embrace people who have lived with the experience of suicide. Now that AAS has a 6th division, our bylaws state:
The members of the Association elect each division Director who will serve as a member of the Board of Directors for a 3 year term. The Director of each division is responsible for representing the voice of his/her particular division on the Board of Directors. Until the next regular election cycle which will take place later this calendar year, the Board will fill the division director position from a pool of candidates who express a desire to serve in this capacity.
We invite members to submit a one-page statement of interest/consideration and their resume/cv by May 1 to Board Chair, Julie Cerel (firstname.lastname@example.org) so the Board of Director’s can vote on the pool of interested candidates and then appoint the first Division Director for our new division.
